Meet three of our graduates: Sawsan, Christine and Chandra. They started volunteering for with ALS in late 2015. Their love of food had them joining ALS Creative Catering and commencing their training to become food service industry professionals. Through their traineeships, Chandra, Sawasan and Christine completed a Food & Safety Supervisor’s
Certificate, after which they honed their practical skills training in our catering kitchen at Auburn. They learnt all aspects of the industry, including shopping for ingredients, preparing food, cooking, time management, delivering and providing food service. They learnt how to cook dishes from diverse cultural backgrounds outside their own, ranging from Egyptian, Tunisian, Moroccan, Sudanese, Zambian, Zimbabwean, Democratic Republic of Congo, Indian, Sri Lankan and Arabic food.
